In-person · Greeley, COElectrical safety training in Greeley, CO
Greeley sits in the middle of Weld County, where nearly all of Colorado's crude oil is produced and one of the country's largest beef plants runs every day. We train the electrical crews who keep Weld County's well pads, processing plants and food lines running, at your facility or in an in-person class we set up in Greeley when you ask.
Private employers in Colorado are inspected by federal OSHA. Every class is live, on the 2027 edition of NFPA 70E, and taught by a Certified Safety Professional. Colorado electrical safety training requirements →

Four ways to train your Greeley crew
Crews we train in and around Greeley: oil and gas producers, midstream and pipelines, meat and dairy processing, electrical and general contractors, hospitals, public employers.
What the class covers for Greeley crews
Oilfield electricians often work alone at a pad miles from help. We cover the job briefing, approach boundaries and what an energized task needs before anyone starts, plus how to plan rescue when the nearest crew is far away.
Meat and dairy plants wash equipment down daily and run large ammonia refrigeration systems. We cover enclosure damage, moisture, and lockout on refrigeration compressors and their controls.
Producers and midstream companies bring in electrical contractors for most new pad work. We teach host and contract employer duties so both sides know who owns the hazard assessment.
Weld County, the City of Greeley and the school districts are outside OSHA in Colorado. We train them to the same standard and help them document qualification.

Colorado: what applies to your crews
Enforcement: federal OSHA
Weld County employers answer to federal OSHA's Denver Area Office, since Colorado runs no state plan. That gap leaves county, city, school district and university electricians with no OSHA coverage.
Licensing: statewide
Colorado licenses electricians at the state level. The State Electrical Board under DORA issues residential wireman, journeyman and master licenses and enforces apprentice supervision ratios, and that applies on well pads as much as in town.
Where NFPA 70E fits
NFPA 70E is a consensus standard, and OSHA does not enforce it. Weld County operators and contractors use it to show how they comply with OSHA 1910 Subpart S and 1926 Subpart K, while OSHA can cite the General Duty Clause for a known electrical hazard.
Greeley's electrical work environment
Weld County is the heart of the Denver-Julesburg Basin, and nearly 90 percent of Colorado's crude comes from it. Chevron, Civitas Resources and Occidental are the leading producers. Chevron alone has about 600,000 net acres in the liquids-rich part of the county after its $7.6 billion purchase of PDC Energy in 2023, and it has replaced truck traffic in its Mustang development area with pipelines. Electricians here work on well pads, compressor stations, gathering systems and the substations that feed them.
Food processing is the other anchor. JBS USA, which began as Monfort of Colorado, employs about 5,141 people in Greeley, and its beef plant can process about 6,000 head a day, roughly 5 percent of the U.S. beef supply. Leprino Foods built a $270 million cheese plant here, finished in 2017, that employs about 500. Both run wet, cold, ammonia-refrigerated plants where electrical equipment takes a beating.
Public employers fill out the list. Banner Health's North Colorado Medical Center has about 4,558 employees, and Greeley-Evans School District 6, Weld County, the University of Northern Colorado and the City of Greeley each employ more than 1,000. The general contractor Hensel Phelps is headquartered in Greeley as well.
Oilfields, meat plants and cheese lines in Weld County

Xcel Energy and the Weld County co-ops
Xcel Energy is the largest electric utility in Weld County, with about 140,000 customers tracked by PowerOutage.us, and serves Greeley. United Power, Poudre Valley REA, Morgan County REA and High West Energy cover much of the rural county, which is where most of the well pads and compressor stations sit.
Oilfield load lands on rural co-op lines and on operator-owned distribution behind the meter. Chevron's switch from trucks to pipelines in its Mustang area eliminated more than 152 million truck miles, but it added pumps, compressors and controls that electricians now maintain across the basin.
