In-person · Ogden, UTElectrical safety training in Ogden, UT
Ogden sits next to Hill Air Force Base, the largest single-site employer in Utah, and Northrop Grumman's Sentinel ICBM campus in Roy. We train the electrical crews who keep the base's contractors, aerospace plants and Weber County employers running, at your facility or in an in-person class we set up in Ogden when you ask.
Utah runs its own OSHA-approved state plan. Private employers here are inspected by Utah Occupational Safety and Health (UOSH) Division, Utah Labor Commission, not federal OSHA. Every class is live, on the 2027 edition of NFPA 70E, and taught by a Certified Safety Professional. Utah electrical safety training requirements →

Four ways to train your Ogden crew
Crews we train in and around Ogden: defense contractors, aircraft and missile maintenance, automotive safety manufacturing, federal and office campuses, composites and outdoor products, public employers.
What the class covers for Ogden crews
Contractors move between Hill AFB, a federal installation outside UOSH's reach, and private plants under UOSH in the same week. We teach one program that works on both sides and how to confirm whose rules govern each site.
Missile and aircraft programs rely on test equipment, environmental chambers and lab power that get worked on energized. We cover the justification and permit process for diagnostic work.
Classes at defense contractors need badging, escorts and sometimes approved devices. We plan logistics with your security office before we arrive.
Airbag and molding lines run presses, robots and conveyors on tight takt times. We cover lockout on automated cells and how to troubleshoot without exposing workers to energized parts.

Utah: what applies to your crews
Enforcement: UOSH state plan
The Utah Occupational Safety and Health Division, part of the Utah Labor Commission, enforces workplace safety for private employers and for state and local government. Hill Air Force Base is a federal installation outside UOSH's jurisdiction, so work there runs under federal rules.
Licensing: statewide
Utah's Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL) licenses apprentice, journeyman, master, residential journeyman and residential master electricians. Renewal every two years requires continuing education centered on the NEC.
Where NFPA 70E fits
Neither UOSH nor federal OSHA enforces NFPA 70E. Ogden employers use it to show how they meet the adopted federal electrical standards in 1910 Subpart S and 1926 Subpart K, and Utah's general duty provision covers recognized hazards those rules miss.
Ogden's electrical work environment
Hill Air Force Base, just south of Ogden in Davis County, employed 26,893 people in 2024. The Ogden Air Logistics Complex there manages aircraft, engines, missiles, software and avionics for the Air Force, including logistics for the Minuteman III ICBM, and the 388th and 419th Fighter Wings fly three squadrons of F-35As. In FY2023 the base also had about 6,221 contractor employees on site, and in May 2026 it received $6.5 million for a dedicated F-35 canopy maintenance facility.
Northrop Grumman directly employs more than 11,000 Utahns, and about 5,200 work on Sentinel, the replacement for Minuteman III. Its Roy Innovation Center is the program's headquarters for engineering, digital design, supply chain and program management. Construction of a sixth building began in summer 2026 and is due in 2028, taking the campus past 1.1 million square feet.
Inside Ogden, the Internal Revenue Service is the largest employer with more than 5,000 people. Business Depot Ogden, a former Army depot of more than 1,000 acres, holds Autoliv's airbag and injection molding operations, ENVE Composites and others. Autoliv's Northern Utah network, which included the world's largest airbag inflator plant in Brigham City, employed about 3,600 people at seven sites in 2019. McKay-Dee Hospital and Weber State University add large campus systems.
Hill AFB, Sentinel and the plants of Weber and Davis counties
Defense work dominates the Ogden area, with manufacturing and federal offices close behind. These are the sites that carry most of the electrical load.

Rocky Mountain Power in Weber and Davis counties
Rocky Mountain Power, PacifiCorp's utility for Utah, Wyoming and southeastern Idaho, serves Ogden and the base communities around it. It is run from Salt Lake City, and PacifiCorp has been owned by Berkshire Hathaway Energy since 2006.
Much of the power reaching Northern Utah still comes from coal plants in Emery County, including Hunter at 1,112 MW and Huntington at 895 MW, plus gas units along the Wasatch Front. PacifiCorp plans to keep only 3 of its 22 coal plants running past 2040, so the supply behind Weber County's plants and bases will shift over the next 15 years.
