In-person · Orange County, CAElectrical safety training in Orange County, CA
Orange County packs medical device plants, theme parks, hospitals and a large contractor base into 34 cities between Los Angeles and San Diego. We train the electrical crews behind that work, at your facility or in an in-person class we set up in Orange County when you ask.
California runs its own OSHA-approved state plan. Private employers here are inspected by Division of Occupational Safety and Health (Cal/OSHA), California Department of Industrial Relations, not federal OSHA. Every class is live, on the 2027 edition of NFPA 70E, and taught by a Certified Safety Professional. California electrical safety training requirements →

Four ways to train your Orange County crew
Crews we train in and around Orange County: medical device manufacturing, theme parks and hospitality, healthcare, water and wastewater, aerospace and electronics, electrical contractors.
What the class covers for Orange County crews
Medical device and electronics manufacturers rarely want a full shutdown. We cover how to plan maintenance so energized work is the exception and properly justified when it happens.
Rides, show systems and outdoor distribution run on tight overnight maintenance windows. Fatigue and time pressure are part of the hazard picture, and we talk about them directly.
Water and wastewater plants run large motors on variable frequency drives. Stored energy in drive capacitors is covered in our 2-Day Intensive.
SCE, SDG&E and Anaheim each have their own service rules. Contractors working countywide should know whose equipment they are next to before they open a cabinet.

California: what applies to your crews
Enforcement: Cal/OSHA
Cal/OSHA runs California's state plan through the Division of Occupational Safety and Health. It covers private employers along with cities, school districts and special districts, and enforces Title 8's Electrical Safety Orders.
Licensing: contractor and worker
The CSLB licenses C-10 electrical contractors, and their electricians must hold state certification from the Labor Commissioner's Electrician Certification Unit within DIR. Plant and facility electricians employed directly by a manufacturer are outside that requirement.
Where NFPA 70E fits
NFPA 70E is not a Cal/OSHA regulation. It is the consensus standard employers use to show how they meet Title 8's electrical rules and the training their written Injury and Illness Prevention Program has to cover.
Orange County's electrical work environment
Orange County is a county of mid-size cities with no single downtown. Irvine and the South Coast Metro area around John Wayne Airport hold corporate and medical device campuses, including Edwards Lifesciences. Anaheim has the Disneyland Resort and the convention center. Santa Ana is the county seat.
The industrial side is spread out. Business parks in Irvine, Tustin, Brea and Huntington Beach hold clean-room manufacturing, electronics and aerospace suppliers. Huntington Beach still has oil production, and Fountain Valley hosts the Orange County Water District's groundwater replenishment plant, a large potable reuse facility full of high-horsepower pumping.
Most electrical work here is maintenance and tenant improvement in occupied buildings. That means crews spend more of their time on equipment that is already running.
SCE, SDG&E and Anaheim Public Utilities
Southern California Edison serves most of Orange County. San Diego Gas & Electric serves southern Orange County as part of a territory that covers 4,100 square miles across two counties. Anaheim runs its own municipal utility, Anaheim Public Utilities, which serves the resort district and the rest of the city.
Because service is split, large customers that operate across the county often deal with two or three utilities. For crews, the difference shows up in service equipment, metering and who to call for a utility-side disconnect.
